Carine RoitfeldCarine Roitfeld, editor in chief of French Vogue, is a driving force behind the phenomenal success of amfAR’s Cinema Against AIDS benefit event series.

Born in France to a family of Russian origins, Roitfeld began her magazine career at French Elle and later worked at French Glamour. It was there that she first met one of the world’s most sought-after fashion photographers, Mario Testino, with whom she worked almost exclusively for many years.

Roitfeld went on to become an internationally renowned stylist, and contributed to the images of Sonia Rykiel, Missoni, Versace, Paul Smith, YSL, and Calvin Klein. She was a muse for Tom Ford at Gucci, and took an active part in the relaunch of the Gucci brand. In April 2001, Roitfeld joined the staff of French Vogue as editor in chief.

In 2004, Roitfeld offered her talents and time to serve as a chair of amfAR’s annual Cinema Against AIDS event in Cannes, and has continued to do so every year since then. She has been instrumental in galvanizing the European fashion community in support of this event, and has helped make Cinema Against AIDS one of the most important and successful AIDS fundraisers in the world.

Carine Roitfeld has two children, Julia and Vladimir, both students.
