PEPFAR – the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS relief – was launched under President George W. Bush in 2003.
At the time, global investment in HIV programs in developing countries was practically non-existent. US investments in
PEPFAR and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria have unlocked the ability to deliver HIV programs
and have fundamentally changed the course of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. These investments have saved millions of lives
AND helped stabilize an unstable world.
