Vienna’s Life Ball Raises Funds and Awareness for TREAT Asia

 

July 2005—TREAT Asia received a contribution of 100,000 Euros along with the Life Ball Crystal of Hope on May 21 at Vienna’s thirteenth annual Life Ball, the largest AIDS charity event in Europe. Accepting on behalf of TREAT Asia, Dr. Adeeba Kamarulzaman of the University of Malaya Medical Center received the award from Oscar-winning actress Liza Minnelli. Ms. Minnelli had been escorted to the stage by amfAR’s vice president for clinical research and prevention programs and director of TREAT Asia Kevin Frost. The audience of 35,000 was also shown a short film about TREAT Asia’s purpose and programs. Sir Elton John and Donatella Versace headlined the fund raiser along with Ms. Minnelli.
