Greg Millett, amfAR Vice President and Director of Public Policy, has been ranked #4 on HIV Plus magazine’s 20 Most Amazing HIV+ People of 2018. Calling him "perhaps our country’s foremost expert on HIV among gay and bi men of color," HIV Plus tells of Millett’s work as an epidemiologist for the CDC’s division of HIV/AIDS prevention, heading a research project on a sudden spike in HIV transmission rates among gay and bisexual men of color.

The study showed that since black communities are disproportionately impacted by HIV, black gay and bisexual men are at higher risk of contracting HIV than their white peers. "In large part due to the efforts of Millett and his colleagues over the past 20 years," says the tribute, "the focus has shifted to the causes of those racial disparities,” rather than on what these communities are doing wrong.

Millett also served as a senior policy advisor in the Obama administration’s Office of National AIDS Policy, during which time he was one of three principal writers of President Obama’s National HIV/AIDS Strategy.

In addition to Mr. Millett, the magazine features amfAR Epic Voices ambassadors Ken Williams and Daniel Driffin, who are ranked #3 and #11, respectively.
