New York, NY, April 10, 2014—amfAR Global Fundraising Chairman Sharon Stone, amfAR Ambassador Milla Jovovich, Heidi Klum, BVLGARI ambassador Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, John Travolta, Kelly Preston, Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan, Carine Roitfeld, and amfAR Chairman Kenneth Cole will be among the chairs of the 21st edition of amfAR’s world-renowned Cinema Against AIDS event, to be held on May 22, 2014, during the Cannes Film Festival. Other event chairs include Bulgari Group Chief Executive Officer Jean-Christophe Babin, Milutin Gatsby, Michel Litvak, Vincent Roberti, Remo Ruffini, Christopher Woodrow, and Molly Conners.

Cinema Against AIDS 21 is presented by WORLDVIEW ENTERTAINMENT, BOLD FILMS, and BVLGARI. Signature Sponsors is MERCEDES-BENZ.  MOËT HENNESSY is a Grand Philanthropist.

The annual star-studded event, traditionally the most glamorous and unpredictable event held in conjunction with the Film Festival, will be held at the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, France.  As always, the gala will include several musical performances and a parade of prominent appearances as many of the celebrity guests help with the event’s over-the-top live auction.

Confirmed performers include the multi-platinum selling pop femme fatale Lana Del Rey, soulful singer and songwriter Robin Thicke, whose smash “Blurred Lines” was the world’s top-selling song of 2013, and the prolific musician Aloe Blacc, who can currently be heard on radio stations across the globe with his hit “The Man,” and as the voice and lyricist behind Avicii’s “Wake Me Up.”

Bulgari Group Chief Executive Officer Jean-Christophe Babin states: “Since the magical era of the 1960s when Hollywood’s brightest stars started shooting epics like ‘La Dolce Vita’ and ‘Cleopatra’ in Rome, the glamour of film has been at the heart of Bulgari’s DNA. Today, we are very proud to support amfAR's critical work in the fight against AIDS, a cause that the film community has supported since the beginning thanks to the passionate work of Dame Elizabeth Taylor, a dear friend of the Bulgari brand.”

Longtime amfAR supporter Carine Roitfeld will once again curate a fashion show of one-of-a-kind looks, all in red, from a who’s who of the world’s most celebrated fashion designers. Thirty of the world’s top models will participate in the spectacular runway presentation.

Participating designers in the fashion show will include Alexander McQueen, Alexander Wang, Alexandre Terekhov, Altuzarra, Burberry, Calvin Klein, Cavalli, Chanel, Christian Dior, Christopher Kane, Comme des Garçons, Fendi, Gianvito Rossi, Giambattista Valli, Giorgio Armani, Givenchy, Gucci, Hugo Boss, JW Anderson, Kenneth Cole, Lanvin, Marc Jacobs, Marchesa, Max Mara, Michael Kors, Missoni, Miu Miu, Moncler Gamme Rouge, Prada, Ralph Lauren, Rick Owens, Salvatore Ferragamo, Tom Ford, Versace, and Ulyana Sergeenko, among others.

After the Cinema Against AIDS dinner, guests will be invited to the exclusive “After Party,” which will be presented by Moncler.  For the first time this year, only the guests from the dinner will be attending The After Party, with no additional invitees.

amfAR's annual Cinema Against AIDS events have been important and successful fundraising events for the Foundation for two decades, generating more than $120 million for essential AIDS research.  Recently, amfAR launched “Countdown to a Cure for AIDS,” a research initiative aimed at finding a broadly applicable cure for HIV by 2020. “Countdown to a Cure” is designed to intensify amfAR’s cure-focused HIV research program with plans to strategically invest $100 million in cure research over the next six years.

Past events have been chaired by amfAR’s late Founding International Chairman Dame Elizabeth Taylor, who hosted the first Cinema Against AIDS gala in 1993, amfAR Global Fundraising Chairman Sharon Stone, President Bill Clinton, Demi Moore, Sir Elton John, and Madonna, among many others.

Like the epidemic itself, AIDS research knows no borders. amfAR’s programs have had a global reach since 1986, when the Foundation began awarding international grants. Today, amfAR continues to fund HIV/AIDS researchers worldwide and works to translate their research into effective policy, prevention, and treatment education programs around the globe.
